![]() Lonely Planet would be the Bible, making Tony Wheeler either Jesus or God. Maybe On the Road is the Old Testament, and The Beach is the Book of Revelation. The LP writers are the apostles, the backpackers the disciples. The martyrs are those who are spending time in foreign prisons, or who got killed while travelling. The churches are cheap hotels and hostels. Communion, banana pancakes. The hymns are by Bob Marley. The Holy Land, so many choices, but maybe Khao San Road. The priests are those haggard middle aged people who've given up on real life and have been travelling for 5+ years. The acolytes are those people who hang onto the priest's every word as he describes in great detail how he lived in India for seven months with $100. That's all I can think of for now. Please add more. I can't think of any moral laws just yet.
